Armstrong Downwind Performance Front Wing

Development of the Downwind Performance foil began by collecting waveform and real world riding data from Hawaii's inter-island channels to set specific performance parameters for the design process. A team of leading fluid dynamics experts optimized a foil shape with extreme top end glide at high speeds, but with enough low end lift to still make average conditions accessible. The result is a very high aspect ratio outline with swept wingtips and relatively minimal rondure. The DWP foil section is high camber from root to wingtip, yet thin overall to achieve that combination of top speed efficiency without losing low end accessibility.
